A young, independent teenager picked Max because he was the most skittish of the puppies for sale. Left with little guidance, Max became very self-protective and was untouchable. He destroyed the backyard (trying to find what he needed in an environment that wasn’t giving him what he needed). Over time of respecting his strong boundaries at WC, he has let go of a lot of his less positive coping strategies and now can spend time with Nova, the pack nanny.
